Who is Truscouting? Truscouting is a group of Scouters who believe that Scouting should be open to questions.
What are we attempting to do? Find out what Ethan Draddy is planning for Baltimore Area Council and hold him accountable for his actions as the CEO. We believe that the IRS form 990 should be posted on the Council web site.
How do we plan to do this? By asking questions. There will be times when we will address issues. Our goal is to DO OUR BEST to see to it that there is a functioning organization in place once Ethan Draddy moves on.
Why are we doing this? Past Baltimore Area Council CEO's left this council with debt that we are all asked to finance, reducing funds that could be used for improvements at our camps and increased service to our units. We believe that Ethan Draddy is cutting service to our districts that will leave us with a debt in human resources for the future.
We believe in a three part test for our membership; a Scout pays his own way. He does not ask for handouts, a Scout knows he (or she) is a member of the Boy Scouts of America, a Scout (Explorer, Venture Scout) participates in a Scouting program (more than a one time deal).
We believe in the Nationally approved Scouting program; Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts, Exploring and a limited Learning For Life program.
We believe that Scouting is best serviced through districts with functioning commissioner service. There is no place in Scouting for special districts without volunteer oversight.
We believe that the best place for a professional Scouter is serving units. When an organization has more people as managers than people providing the mission service there is a serious problem. Baltimore Area Council has a Scout executive, a director of field service, a director of development, a director of support service, a camping director, a finance director, a senior finance director, an asst. director of field service, two field directors, a comptroller and asst. comptroller. That is a lot of people that will not be driving over to your meeting to see how your unit is doing.
Finally, we have all served in unit, district, and council level positions. We understand how professional Scouters do their jobs. Special, private meetings to address concerns (to shut us up) is not part of our purpose.
